Brainstorming

 Interactive learning techniques

One of what our students need most at this time, in my opinion, is to involve them in the education process, and one of these means is the adoption of interactive education in the classroom.

There are one technique used in interactive learning:

Brainstorming students usually conduct sessions of interactive brainstorming, and this process is useful for generating creative ideas, and this method helps to link information together, and types of interactive brainstorming include: structured and unstructured, negative or reverse thinking, and interaction through electronic applications or Individual brainstorming, and others.

Dialogue session The participants meet in sessions focusing on one topic, where each student contributes a group of ideas, and the teacher should encourage discussion and cooperation between students within each group, and everyone should learn from each other's interventions and experiences.

My dear teacher

My dear teacher, Thank you for being the best teacher.

Thank you for choosing this profession in these times when everyone seeks to make money in the simplest and easiest way possible, whatever the content they provide and whatever its results.
Thank you for choosing to build this community at a time when so many people are seeking to corrupt its morals and destroy it.
We know you are performing the most difficult task in this world, but you know that you are establishing a generation and planting seeds, whose fruits you may not see now, but your impact will remain for generations and generations.
Thank you for every minute of your time and for every word that came out of you and entered the minds and hearts of many students.
Thank you so much

Photography

If you prepare a tidy and tasty lunch table, can you start eating before you picture it?
And if you photographed it, would you like to post those pictures to a social media?

Photography is now easier than ever, just take your smartphone and start taking pictures of anything your eyes see, editing it and using the appropriate filter.
But do you know that photography has many benefits even if you don't post these pictures to Facebook or Instagram ?!
First, it brings back memories and beautiful moments that you do not want to forget, especially after the departure of a person dear to your heart.
I read someone saying: "Photography represents for me the ability to control and stop the document at certain moments and to preserve these moments despite the passage of time."
Like all hobbies, doing it helps relieve stress and make you feel comfortable, as if you are exercising or shopping, for example.
Also, do not forget that if you are a photography professional, you can make a lot of money, so take your camera now, and let's go.

Save the moments in your class

Are you taking pictures during the class?

Give me your opinion in the comments, and let me tell you what I think.

In fact, I love taking pictures a lot, not for the purpose of publishing, but only to save beautiful memories that may not come back again, and put them in the happiness archive.

Me and my students, we shoot a lot of pictures and record videos, and at the end of the year I make a long video that collects all these memories, and we show it at the final ceremony, then send a copy for each student to keep.

I see a great impact of this thing on the hearts of students and parents as well, and then they feel gratitude for every picture we took in the classroom, and for every smile that was made on a child's face.

I apologize for including pictures from my class in this post but I recommend this to try ♥

Nevmekan

Do you prefer to study at home, or in the library?

Personally, I prefer to study at home, unless the library is like NEVMEKAN, where you can find a unique atmosphere.

Let me tell you a bit about this wonderful library, it is one of the important places for Istanbul culture and the art of living in Istanbul, It was first opened in Bağlarbaşı in 2016 with the restoration of the old IETT garage, is also one of the best examples of the idea of the National Coffee House.

It's founded by Üsküdar Municipality Mayor Hilmi Türkmen with the vision of presenting a new symbol to the culture of Istanbul, serves Istanbulites and world citizens on the Üsküdar coast with its library of 50 thousand books, exhibition hall, art and cultural activities.

This library is open 24 hours, receiving students and those who want to enjoy studying in a calm atmosphere with the sound of the waves and the smell of books, and also the food and drinks in it are very delicious, and good service. So if you like books, you will enjoy the experience of eating gourmet food in a fancy library.

Class Theatre

We used to watch the video of the week in our classes that students wait impatiently, and enjoy watching a lot. I usually choose silent animation films, and after watching the students start choosing funny names for the characters and then acting them.

The homework should be to write a story about this video, and what's the moral lesson of the video.

Thus their linguistic production greatly improved, and that's my main goal.

I really advise you to try it at your classes. Here's one of these video, and you can find more on YouTube.

My experience in making curriculums

My story began with the curriculum only two years ago, when I moved to Turkey and started teaching Arabic to non-speaking children. One of the biggest challenges that we faced was choosing a curriculum that was appropriate to the school’s orientations, with a nice Islamic character.

Sometimes, I wrote some stories by myself  and I did some exercises that were appropriate for the purpose and grammar, until the administration encouraged us to create our own curriculum, and after reading a lot in this field and seeing the international standards in teaching the second language, and the topics that should be addressed in this age (8-10) such as SEFR and ACTFL standards, and started actually producing the first and second level book, and currently we are working at the third level with a team of professors and experts in this field.

I hope this book is a good start in the field of writing curricula for kids.

Your classroom reflects your personality

What does your classroom look like when you enter it?

How do you encourage and motivate your students in the classroom?

Here are some pictures and ideas from my class. I teach Arabic to non-speaker kids.

From the first day in school, we started decorating the classroom and writing important verbs, prepositions and everyday vocabulary

Students enjoy writing these papers and putting them on the wall, and it helps them a lot remember vocabulary and make sentences.

And do not forget the educational and entertainment trips out of the class, they will have a lot of fun as well as you.

A lesson in the Café

Have you ever tried to give a class in a café?

Before the corona came to this world, in one of the lessons I felt that the students were tired of the class and the seats, I thought of a nice way to make them enjoy more and accept studying.

And I decided to give the lesson in the café, and I actually asked the parents for permission on the phone, and they were very happy

Then the students and I went to a café on the beach, the lesson was very cool, even the owner of the café liked us very much, and he offered us juice and dessert for free, he was very nice

Until now, the students have not forgotten any word of the lesson we took in the café,

I hope that the Coronavirus will end soon and we will return to schools on ground, because education in schools is more beautiful and enjoyable.

EDU 561 - Fall/2020

Before I tell about my experience in teaching this semester, I have to say that this course is a great source of information, it's like a treasure form me, full of ideas, topics and useful applications which make us grow, enrich our knowledge, and make our way in teaching more efficient.

So, firstly this course has changed my way in reviewing the information for my students online, now I'm able to review via Kahoot, Go Formative, or Mentimeter.

I used to ask my students how do they feel before we begin the class, but now I can do it via Poll everywhere to make it more fun and safe the class time.

Seeking to involve the student in the educational process, this course gave me an excellent idea about using Google apps such as Jamboard, Google Docs, Slide, Sheet, WebQuest, etc... Also how to organise my teaching materials in the best way on Google drive and Google Classroom.

The more important and practical thing now is that I have given my students their final exams as Google Form and it was a perfect idea, I've changed the routine in our school that required us to send exams as PDF and have the parents to print it for their kids, now it's more fun and efficient.
